Colonial Day at the Stamford History Center, Tuesday, June 16, 2026 (Rain Date: June 17) 1:30 – 3:30 PM At the historic Hoyt-Barnum House and the surrounding grounds of the Stamford History Center, 1508 High Ridge Road, Stamford, Connecticut
It’s an early dismissal day!
All Stamford students, their siblings, and caregivers are warmly invited.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Celebrate the spirit of early America as we honor the 250th anniversary of Independence with an immersive Colonial experience!
Hands-On
- Wool carding circle
- Colonial games: hoop races
- Butter churning
- Make your own spinner (ages 8+)
- Create a corn husk doll (ages 10+)
- Try writing with a quill pen (messy but memorable!)
- Historic toys: Jacob’s ladder, ball-and-cup, spinners, and more
Demonstrations
- Live Farrier Demo with Pony
- Ceramics demonstration
- Story Corner: tales of colonial life
- Loom weaving demonstration in the attic
This special community event brings history to life—connecting students and families to Stamford’s past through interactive learning, storytelling, and traditional crafts.
Registration
Advance registration is strongly encouraged so we can prepare enough supplies for all participants.
Cost: $20 per family

- On-site parking at Stamford History Center (limited; priority for disabled parking)
- Additional parking available at Bethany Church, 2 Scofieldtown Road
