“Being a fully-fledged citizen today also requires a profound understanding of the way humans relate to each other…we’ll always need doctors, engineers, accountants, economists — but we also need poets, journalists, sociologists, and artists.” ~ Andrea Carlo, freelance journalist

This spring, we are hunkered down with you – working from home, isolating from our neighbors and friends, and planning for the “new normal” we all face – planning that is rooted in meeting needs and providing access as well as in hopeful optimism.

We have two wishes for you this spring: that you and your family are healthy and safe, and that you will support CT Humanities as we help those in the cultural community affected by this crisis.

During this time of social distancing, we continue to engage Connecticut’s residents and cultural organizations.

  • Our high-quality digital resources for distance learning are shared far and wide to teachers, parents, and students as well as the curious of all ages.
  • We have partnered with the Connecticut League of History Organizations to survey cultural institutions about their needs so our assistance can be impactful in the present moment and as they look toward the future.
  • We continue to share resources as organizations address COVID-19 challenges and transition events to virtual platforms as well as promote those online events via our event calendar, social media accounts, and e-blasts.
  • We have adjusted our June Quick Grant line  from programming awards to those that will provide much needed COVID-19 relief by allowing up to 100% of awarded funding to be applied toward a grantee’s operating expenses.
  • As the National Endowment for the Humanities’ state affiliate, we are responsible for managing emergency grantmaking for humanities organizations across Connecticut.

Without assistance, it is likely that many of Connecticut’s cultural treasures will be lost or greatly diminished; taking many good jobs with them.

Please consider a gift to CT Humanities. Your donation will help us continue to provide relief and assistance to the cultural community of Connecticut.

Stay safe and please be in touch with any questions or concerns you may have.

Thank you,

Jason R. Mancini, Ph.D.
