By the People / “William (Billy) Lee”

April 16 @ 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm
Free

Renowned storyteller Andre Keitt portrays “William (Billy) Lee,” an American enslaved man who was the personal assistant of George Washington, before, during, and after the American Revolution. Billy Lee was the only one of Washington’s slaves freed immediately by Washington’s will. Mr. Keitt brings a unique insight into the story, life, and relationships in this “Freedom Trail” presentation. This program is part of the national By the People initiative, marking the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
