The New England Council of Latin America Studies Fall 2022 Annual Meeting
The New England Council of Latin American Studies 2022 Annual meeting brings those interested in Latin American and Latinx Studies to Central Connecticut State University, November 4th to 5th. Anti-Racism in Action, Inc. (ARIA) (New Haven, $2,000)
Kwanzaa on the New Haven Green
Anti-Racism in Action’s mission is to combat racism and heal its traumas. Established in 2020 during the height of the pandemic and the deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, ARIA banded together to provide necessary training, culturally competent and relevant curriculum guidance, and school programs for students in Pre-K through 12. ARIA endeavors to create equitable spaces that promote acceptance for all people through a lens of cultural sensitivity and cooperative understanding. During the New Haven Green Tree Lighting Ceremony, ARIA will unveil a community kinara in honor of the African American holiday Kwanzaa. Kinaras are symbolic of Nguzo Saba or the Seven Principles of Kwanzaa, and New Haven’s will honor the beautiful heritage of the city’s large African American community, educate the public about the traditions of Kwanzaa, and help eradicate anti-black prejudice.
