Elizabeth Malloy, executive director at the Haddam Historical Society, writes, “Last week the Thankful Arnold House Museum had a mother and son visit on Thursday afternoon. They were celebrating his 12th birthday and had spent the day visiting other Connecticut sites participating in CT Summer at the Museum. They had just come from the Essex Steam Train and boat. The mother noted that program was a godsend as her blended family had 10 children and there was no way she could afford to take them all or even in small groups to most of the site participating if they had to pay regular admission.
She said this was one of the best uses of government spending she had seen and really helped make summer enjoyable for her large family. She hopes the program will continue. Because it was James’ birthday he got the day one-on-one with mom and thoroughly enjoyed all the stops.”
Runs through Sept. 5!
