Matching Funds Available

The Federation of States Humanities Councils (FSHC) has received $15 million in emergency grant funds from the Mellon Foundation, the largest funder of arts and humanities in the US. In response to recent funding cuts to the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and its affiliate state humanities councils, Mellon’s support will grant $200,000 to CT Humanities.

Additionally, FSHC will match donations to CT Humanities up to a total of $50,000. Your gift today will be doubled, helping us retain our staff, imagine our new operating reality, and plan for new revenue streams in the future.

Our Need

As you know, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has terminated our funding from NEH, which means that we will no longer receive $1.1M to operate our programs that fund and promote 750 cultural organizations across Connecticut.

More than ever, funding from private donors is essential to the future of CT Humanities and our cultural sector here in Connecticut. Every gift we receive shows state and federal legislators how much the humanities mean to the people of this state, and provides us with additional matching funds at a time of urgent need.

The work that we do matters. It is critical to our civic health, our educational attainment, and our quality of life. This is a time to stand up for what we believe in and what we will fight for.
