Funded in part by a $4,475 October Quick Grant, this exhibit, film, and public program focuses on two notable Black women who overcame racial and gender discrimination to achieve success.  Anna Louise James was the first African American female to receive a pharmacist license in CT, and her niece Ann Petry was the first African American female to write a book selling over one million copies. The film will be available on Old Saybrook Historical Society’s website.
