The Federation of States Humanities Councils has received $15 million in emergency grant funds from the Mellon Foundation, the largest funder of arts and humanities in the US.
“This is more than a grant—it’s a lifeline for communities across the country who rely on their councils’ programs and grants to fill critical needs and enrich their lives,” said Phoebe Stein, president of the Federation of State Humanities Councils.
In response to recent funding cuts to the National Endowment for the Humanities, Mellon’s grant will help provide support to CT Humanities and all of the other 55 state and jurisdictional humanities councils across the United States.
All donations made to CT Humanities will be generously matched by the Federation of State Humanities Councils with support from the Mellon Foundation, up to $50,000. This challenge will allow CTH to raise an additional $100,000 towards our $1.1M shortfall due to NEH cuts. Your gift today will help us retain our staff, imagine our new operating reality, and plan for new revenue streams in the future.
