Last Sundays at the Schoolhouse

The West Lane District/Peter Parley Schoolhouse at West Lane and South Salem Road in Ridgefield will be open Sunday, Sept. 28, from 1 to 4. There was a one-room school on this site from 1756; the building had its last students in 1915. It’s now maintained as a small museum of early education by the Ridgefield Historical Society. Among its famous graduates are Samuel G. Goodrich, author of many popular 19th Century children’s books as Peter Parley, and Cyrus Northrup, longtime president of the University of Minnesota.
