A Nationwide Call to Action

Connecticut organizations, municipalities, and individuals are invited to participate in Two Lights for Tomorrow, a nationwide initiative to commence the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America. Paul Revere’s famous ride occurred on the overnight of April 18-19, 1775. Two Lights for Tomorrow uses the imagery of the Midnight Ride as a uniting call to action for our citizens to celebrate and serve.

How to Participate: Two Lights

On April 18, 2025, state commissions nationwide are calling for two lights to be displayed in every statehouse. They will be a reminder that the visual of a light shining out in the darkness on Revere’s ride is not just something that mattered then; it’s something that matters today, and for our collective tomorrow.

In Connecticut, we encourage community centers, municipal administrative buildings, museums, cultural centers, private residences, and any other organization that wishes to participate to display two lights on the night of Friday, April 18. In the first week of registration, 18 organizations have signed on to participate. Registration will remain open until Monday, April 14.

How to Participate: Day of Service

On April 19, 2025, states are promoting a day of service. We encourage towns and organizations to plan service projects that will allow the community to come together For the Common Good.

Projects currently planned include:

  • Spring clean ups at both the Huntington Homestead (Scotland, CT) and in Wethersfield on Main Street
  • A canned food drive at Connecticut’s Old State House (Hartford, CT)

The full list of service projects, a map of participating organizations, and a sign-up form can be found at CT250.org.
