Join us at the Trumbull Historical for an inspiring program that combines storytelling and music featuring Nero Hawley, an enslaved man from Trumbull during the colonial era. Discover the journey leading to his emancipation and learn about his life as a free man.

Historical songwriter and Connecticut’s 1st Official State Troubadour, Tom Callinan, will perform his song dedicated to Nero and other pieces highlighting lesser-known stories of African Americans in Connecticut related to enslavement. This is a unique opportunity to reflect on our history and celebrate the contributions of these individuals through an artistic lens.
