CT Humanities has been awarded $50,000 by the Federation of State Humanities Councils through the Why It Matters: Civic and Electoral Participation initiative funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. CT Humanities has brought together our statewide partners CT Public, the Democracy and Dialogues Initiative at UCONN’s Dodd Center, Everyday Democracy, and the Connecticut Democracy Center at CT’s Old State House to present programming designed to provide frameworks for meaningful discussion around often difficult and divisive topics, instruction on civic processes and participation, and avenues that ensure access for all citizens to value and participate fully in our democracy.

Learn more about American Dreams, a virtual performance at HartBeat Ensemble, and register for the CTH sponsored Encounters: American Dreams Dialogue event on Monday, 10/26, 7-9 pm. A production by NYC’s Working Theater, this online show invites its audience to participate in five voting rounds on who gets to be a United States citizen. The program asks participants to think about the impact of their votes, how they view the American Dream, and who gets to participate in it.
