Submissions for the 2020 CT Book Awards are closed, the books are in, and the readings are underway!
This year the Connecticut Center for the Book received 93 submissions across four categories: Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry, Books for Young Readers (Fiction, Nonfiction, Picture Books). Authors and illustrators send in six copies of their work to be distributed to judges (one gets cataloged at the Connecticut State Library). Book distribution typically takes place in person when judges gather together excitedly in anticipation of opening the boxes of books they will read all summer. This year, due to social distancing, the books will be delivered to judges’ homes, picked up, or shipped out. Take a peek at the day-long process of packing the books:
We wish all the best to those who submitted to the awards and look forward to sharing more when the finalists are chosen this August. Decisions are still being made about the format of the 2020 CT Book Awards in October. Subscribe to our e-news and follow us on social media (@cthumanities) to keep updated.
