“Family Matters: Insights & Inspiration from Miss James and Ann Petry” will focus on two notable Black women who overcame racial and gender discrimination to achieve success, Anna Louise James was the first African-American female to receive a pharmacist license in CT and her neice Ann Petry was the first African-American female to write a book selling over one million copies. Our project consists of an exhibit, film and public program and will occur from June to Sept. 2022 and again in 2023.
