Storytelling time with Rauf Mama December 2nd at 6 PM

As part of the Eastern Connecticut State University Art Gallery’s “Artist as Witness” presentations series, Eastern’s Fine Arts Department invites you to a storytelling presentation on Thursday, December 2nd, 2021 at 6 PM in the Student Theater by Professor Raouf Mama in collaboration with Professor Julia Wintner, Curator of the Art Gallery. The presentation, which will feature an African variant of the Greek story of Persephone, will be a meditation on Covid-19 and its aftermath.

Raouf Mama is a storyteller of international renown, the only one in the world today who tells in English, French, Fon and Yoruba, folktales from his native Benin and other parts of the world. A Distinguished English Professor and CSU Professor, he is the best-selling author of Pourquoi Le Bouc Sent Mauvais, the French version of Why Goats Smell Bad and a winner of the US National Muticultural Childre’s Book Award.

Professor Julia Wintner is a talented artist and the Curator and Director of the Art Gallery at Eastern Connecticut State University.
The Storytelling presentation will be followed by a reception in the Art Gallery
