Online Homeschool Workshop: Coming of Age: Growing Up in the 1950s and 1960s

November 8 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm

$10 – $14
CT United States

What was life like for children and teens growing up in Hartford in the 1950s and 1960s? How did racial bias impact people’s daily experiences? Through close-looking at a variety of primary sources, including census data, high school yearbooks, and newspaper articles, children will explore the impact of the civil rights movement on the people of Connecticut. Then, they can tune into a live, virtual workshop to explore how popular novels and comic books were influenced by some of the era’s most significant events, including the Cold War and the Space Race.

This program is recommended for children ages 9-12. Pre-registration is required and enrollment is limited. Registration opens on Monday, September 13. If you have any questions, please contact Katerina Mazzacane, Youth and Family Programs Manager, at 860-236-5621 x222, or email katerina_mazzacane@chs.org.
