Free
Kellogg Environmental Center & Osborne Homestead Museum, 500 Hawthorne Ave
Derby, 06484

As the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence approaches, the Osborne Homestead Museum will begin its commemoration with a series of lectures by historian and author Richard Worth. This lecture will center on the memorable leaders of the Five Iroquois Nations, who played a pivotal role in the colonial fur trade, the French and Indian War, and the American Revolution. Come to this lecture and learn about the trials and tribulations of the Iroquois on Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Kellogg Environmental Center.

Richard Worth is the main researcher and writer of the Osborne Homestead Museum newsletter, “Museum Musings”, and author of several children’s books. These include “Voices of Colonial America: New France,” and “Voices of Colonial America: Louisiana.” In addition, he has written “Colonial Delaware,” “The Slave Trade in America,” “Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr,” and “Slave Life on the Plantations.” This lecture will be about the most powerful tribal alliance in colonial America, the Iroquois Confederacy. Learn about the fascinating and little-known history of the masters of wilderness warfare and high stakes diplomacy.
