George E. Moulthrop, Amateur Photographer & Visual Historian: Session 3….Tom Dickau, Bristol/Forestville Historian, will present the third in a series of multi-media programs utilizing the extensive collection of glass slides and artifacts left by Moulthrop. An assortment of 400-500 Bristol/Forestville images, many never seen before, will be used to describe and picture the development of the educational system created within the community in response to the change from an agricultural to an industrial environment. The District System of education, which included thirteen distinct regions making independent decisions, hiring teachers and arranging finances, will be emphasized. Bristol was one of the last cities to eliminate this archaic system. The program will start with a brief review of Session 2, which focused on industrial development in Bristol and Forestville. Please register in advance by calling the Manross Library at 860-584-7790.
