Gallery Talk with Tanya Pohrt: Capturing Life and Beauty

June 13 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free
New Haven Museum, 114 Whitney Ave
New Haven, CT 06510 United States

In conjunction with the International Festival of Arts & Ideas, New Haven Museum (NHM) will host a Gallery Talk with Guest Curator Tanya Pohrt. Pohrt will guide guests through “Capturing Life and Beauty: Women Artists of the New Haven Paint & Clay Club,” a new NHM exhibit celebrating the range and depth of the artwork produced by women of the New Haven Paint & Clay Club (NHP&CC), one of the oldest exhibiting art associations in Connecticut and the Northeast. Space is limited, and reservations are strongly advised: https://www.artidea.org/tickets/24601

During the event, Pohrt will share her perspectives on the artists and works, the history of the NHP&CC, and offer interesting backstories on the lives and creative processes of the women whose work is featured in the exhibit.

“Capturing Life and Beauty: Women Artists of the New Haven Paint & Clay Club,” is on view through July 27, 2019. The exhibit includes over 30 works selected by Pohrt, drawn from the Club’s permanent collection. Pohrt is also curator of the Lyman Allyn Museum.
