Frank Sprague and the Trolleys of Connecticut

March 20 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Free
Milford Public Library, 57 New Haven Ave
Milford, CT 06460 United States

Frank who?

The next time you use an electric motor (maybe to start your car?), ride on a Metro North train or the light rail/trolley in Seattle, Portland, etc., or read about progress in driverless vehicles, give a thought to one of the most significant men behind all these developments.

In the last two decades of the 19th century, the science and technology of electricity were developing fast. One of the pioneers was Milford-born Frank Sprague, whose name is little known to the general public. Come along to learn a little about his life, and much more about his contribution to the modern world.

The presentation is by Tom Laurenson, of the Shore Line Trolley Museum. Laurenson hails from Scotland, and moved to the US in 2001. After living on the West Coast, he settled in Branford, where he a trolley conductor at the Shore Line Trolley Museum.

Be prepared to be surprised.
