February 23 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free
CT United States

VIRTUAL PROGRAM: Celebrate Black History Month by attending a FREE virtual program hosted by the Torrington Historical Society on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 6 pm. The featured presenter will be Tammy Denease, an actor and storyteller, who will portray Bessie Coleman, the first African-American woman pilot. This program is sponsored by Torrington Savings Bank.

As Bessie Coleman, Tammy takes you on a journey into Bessie’s world that begins in the segregated south of the United States, where cotton was king and Jim Crow ruled underneath white sheets, where the color of your skin could determine whether you lived or died. Your journey ends in Paris, France, where self-determination — not skin color or gender — is what truly matters. To register for this program please visit the Torrington Historical Society website and click https://www.torringtonhistoricalsociety.org/zoom-registration.html.
