Adult Improv Comedy Workshop
July 19 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Southington Public Library, 255 Main Street
Southington, CT, 06489
In the words of political comedian John Fugelsang, “The comedy has had to get so good because the news has got so bad.”
Join Hartford-based Sea Tea Improv Comedy Theater and the Southington Public Library for a one-hour improv comedy workshop on Tuesday, July 19th at 6:30 pm. Participants will learn the basics of improv or, unscripted, theatrical performances. Space is limited and registration is required. Registration begins Tuesday, July 12th.
Through exercises, group discussion, and Q&A, we’ll explore how:
Practicing improv strengthens listening and communication skills
Taking risks and making mistakes sometimes leads us to better, unexpected places
Contemporary life (think toilet paper shortages and inflation!) can be processed and understood through humor
Collaboration and being open to the ideas of others makes us more creative, empathetic individuals
To create meaningful art and artful meaning in a joyful setting
Sea Tea Improv performers and instructors have trained at America’s top comedy institutions, including the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater and The Second City, and performed hundreds of shows and classes for thousands of audience members and students since 2009.
Thanks to the generosity of Connecticut Humanities, the Southington Library is able to provide thought-provoking, educational programming in a joyful medium all summer long.
